Beam

Trestle

600 x 440 x 700mm

/
A trestle is a piece of furniture used to support other elements or materials, such as boards, for example, in the field of manufacturing. Beam is a ready-to-assemble (RTA) trestle made exclusively from Arauco Hilam laminated pine wood pillars (a format used in the world of architecture mostly) and joinery without glue or external anchors, designed to adapt to an interior context, where it functions as an architectural element on a smaller scale. This piece of furniture works in pairs, in a versatile and intelligent way as a support for sheet-like formats, which are added as a cover to assemble what can be a table or work desk, understanding and adapting to new contexts such as teleworking or the setup of temporary spaces.

This furniture was designed to be assembled by anyone in a matter of minutes per unit.

I’m an industrial designer graduated from Universidad Diego Portales and currently based in Santiago, Chile. My work lies at the intersection of conceptual thinking—an observation of something—and functionality. There is a concern that the results, through details, are synthetic: that they respond to a simple, straightforward formal language that is open to interpretation but effectively meets its functional objectives.
